Sinfonieorchester Basel/Irina Georgieva - Rachmaninoff: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43, Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30 CD

Irina Georgieva, the former master student of Rudolf Buchbinder, performs regularly in Switzerland. For her debut at PROSPERO she has chosen her favorite composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. Together with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, she will interpret two of his best-known works: the Third Piano Concerto in D minor and the incredibly virtuosic Paganini Variations. Both works are close linked to the composer’s time at the Lake of Lucerne in Switzerland.
