Chopin Residue is a multidisciplinary project that centers around sound and its transformation, using the music of Fryderyk Chopin as a conceptual and sonic starting point. At its core, the project reimagines Chopin's compositions through a process of musical deconstruction, abstraction, and reinterpretation. These pieces are not simply remixed or rearranged; they are stripped of the piano (the iconic instrument of Chopin's work) in order to access what remains beneath: tonal fragments, harmonic residue, and latent emotional tension. The Immersive Edition returns that material to the space it was conceived in. Chopin Residue began as an installation built around nine gramophones and multichannel sound, with the listener standing inside the music rather than in front of it. This Pure Audio Blu-ray carries that spatial logic into a domestic listening room: a dedicated Dolby Atmos mix in which the residue of each composition is distributed around and above the listener, alongside a high-resolution stereo version for conventional playback. The immersive mix is not a widened version of the album. Elements that sit adjacent to one another in stereo are separated, placed, and given room to decay independently, so that the layered structure of the recordings, guitars, percussion, theremin, ondes Martenot, and the harmonic sediment left by the absent piano, becomes something to move through rather than something to follow.
