Marek Pospieszalski Octet - EVER LP

"Ever" is the fourth album by Marek Pospieszalski Octet. It was recorded during the band’s two-day residency at the temple of independent music, London’s Cafe Oto. The album will be available on vinyl, CD and digitally.

After the studio-made “NOW!” with Zoh Amba, the octet returns with material captured live - and under circumstances that left little to chance apart from the music itself. The closing set of the second day consisted entirely of brand-new compositions. Their outlines reached the musicians only shortly before the concert. “It is an expression of the octet’s boundless trust and integrity, and at the same time proof of how essential each of these people is to the way this project works,” says Marek Pospieszalski.

What happened that evening on the Cafe Oto stage parted ways with the assumptions the leader had started writing from. “The initial idea of what this music would be was thoroughly revised once it passed into the hands of eight autonomous beings, moving in unexpected directions,” Pospieszalski explains. “The lead changes hands throughout, but the narrative does not unfold in a straight line: it splits into several parallel stories that permeate one another, presenting the full range of expression,” he adds.
