It would be more adequate to call them an artistic group as their areas of activity range over music, visual arts and theatrical performances. \"MULTIVERSE\" is based on lengthy improvisations deeply rooted in tribal drumming with post-dance music flavours. It is also BNNT's first new material since 2012's \"QASSAM\" recorded with Robert Piernikowski (Syny). \"I wouldn't say we took 5-year long vacations from BNNT,\" argues Smoleński. \"Of course our pace appears to be a little slow but keep in mind we performed a number of times during those years and switched a couple of languages,\" he says.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMost of the \"song\" titles are borrowed from Emil Cioran and bibliograhy that goes along the record seems to underline the \"MULTIVERSE\" concept behind this work of art. \"One of the narrations of this album has a lot to do with different layers of reality that may coexist and this bibliography should serve the listener as a guide and provide a number of meanings,\" explains Smoleński. \"The 'lyrics' we included in the booklet are almost illegible, blurred. We put extra effort into treating them as music, more like a way of transferring feelings. During the mixing stage I wanted to expose both the close sounds of our instruments and this majestic space we performed at,” Gąsiorek says.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“What’s important to understand E\/I is a very specific mental (or even spiritual) attitude. Due to special attention we pay to the intention of playing specific parts the whole performance lands very near of what can be called a ritual. It means that we’re both performers and listeners at the same time.”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eE\/I was conceived and is still based in Copenhagen, despite the fact that its members come from different countries and Szymon currently resides in Slovenia. “We all met while studying at music schools and then playing within the local Danish music scene. Some of us are classically trained, others come from an improv and\/or jazz backgrounds but all of us are keen on writing and performing original music. It’s not about skills though, more about some kind of artistic maturity. We thought about reseting everything along with changing the name of our band but I’m glad we’ve not taken things that far,” says Piotrek (drums). „I find it exciting to do whatever you feel like doing without looking at what other people think about it. Especially now that most musicians focus too much on shaping their online image. Guiding Lights are happy to stay away from such actions and this is how I define artistic independence,” he adds.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“The Document” is an instrumental album but the number of musical tropes audible in each track is simply astonishing. And it goes along a really direct and dry production. “I guess singing doesn’t usually fall in place with such sounds. From the listener perspective lack of vocals allows for more focus on details of band’s performance. We managed to maintain a link with these first recordings on our new album. Let’s look at it as the next chapter of the same story but this time a bit darker and inward-looking one,” Piotr explains.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“Our main goal this time can be defined as extreme minimalism. Percussion is barely audible and the sound palette has expanded to include weird sounds, such as sticks, palms, dishes, springs and so on,” Kaliński says. “We decided to treat those as important factors of our soundscapes and I think that this is what contributed to a darker and raw outcome of our work, including a monochromatic and distorted artwork.”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWork on “Kiki Mori” finished a year ago but the album kept on evolving. At the very last moment the band decided to remove one of the tracks since it didn’t match the mood of the rest of the record. “I guess ‘Kiki Mori’ is not what you’d call a strict esthetic statement. We intend to play mainly with the narrative and not only with color, hence the reduction of percussion, introduction of a human voice and a big departure from a crystal clear sound. He recommended that I go to one of his concerts and it just blew me away, because Hiroki explored the territories between jazz and ambient in a masterful fashion,” explains Kaliński. \"From my perspective, Chiba's presence adds a new color to Hinode Tapes' music.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt the beginning of 2025, Hinode Tapes played a short tour in Japan. \"We played strongly improvised concerts with Japanese artists - Hiroki Chiba, Momose Yasunaga and Ko Ishikawa, a virtuoso playing the traditional Japanese instrument shō. It was an honor and a big challenge for us.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\"Ita\" brings another change of aesthetics in the context of the Hinode Tapes discography. \"Our previous album was quite dark, you could even say gloomy. This required certainty of musical expression, as it does not allow much editing.
